Britneys album brought forward to beat Ares downloaders by a full two weeks. No other record label had done such a thing but Jive, Britney Spears label, felt it was in the best interest o this album to move the date up. Portions of the album were already appearing in snippets and demos on several filesharing programs. In order to beat having people get the whole album for free by downloading from these sites they released the album with hopes of securing its projected sales. Whether or not this tactic worked is not known, but it has set a new presedence for other artists and its record labels.

Being Sued

A music lover sued for selling music on ebay said he didn’t need the money, he just had fun doing it. He said he just loves music and wanted to share his music with others. Over an 18 month period he had profited some 27 thousand dollars from this. While, he had over 10 thousand downloads on his computer, and many of us know someone who probably has more, his mistake was in selling those downloads. He was handed a 4 month suspended jail term and ordered to do 120 hours of community service, as well as, return all the money in question.
